A Small Hiatus

Just making sure everyone knows I'm not dead. I've just been taking a much-needed break from the arting. Between the (thankfully now-passed) holidays and my full-time job, I'm exhausted. But not to worry, I'll be back at it soon enough. :)

If all goes according to plan, my first con of 2015 will be in May. I'll post my list of 2015 cons soon. Till then, take care of yourselves and keep being awesome. <3

Thanks to you

With thanksgiving only a day away, I want to thank everyone who has supported me. Even just telling me you like my stuff has continued to drive me when I've felt discouraged :3 So thank you!

I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday. Even if you don't have much to be thankful for, just know that someone cares for you and wishes you the best!

And try not to let the glut of consumerism on Friday get you down. Eight years in retail has colored my views on the whole thing... but just be kind to people if you participate, especially those who are working.

Blog revival!

Hello all!

I had attempted to move this blog to Tumblr, but the interface (especially the mobile one) didn't like to play nice with my devices... so back to Blogger it is!

I'd been wanting to blog about stuff I'm working on, con reports, etc., so hopefully this will be incentive to do just that. I'm also hoping to get my mailing list up and running soon, too. With winter coming, and my last con of 2014 coming up this weekend, I should have more time to work on things.

All graduated (and Merry Christmas)

Well, I'm all graduated now. The ceremony was actually last Friday. Took me a bit to update, as I was busy with work and holiday baking...

I'm probably not going to be doing a whole lot of creative stuff till after the holidays are over. Though I might be making some Christmas cards for people... depends on how ambitious I'm feeling (I've already made dozens upon dozens of cookies! x_x).

Anyway, Happy Holidays to everyone. May they be filled with good times, good food, and good company.

Senior show update

So, got my senior show up. It's not quite how I envisioned it (I only finished two of the six Cuddle Collective books/plush), but oh well. I still like it. It feels a little more... me (scattered but cohesive, har har). Plus I'll have more time to work on stuff after I graduate. There was just too much to deal with this semester (and over the summer).

Anyway, here's a crappy picture taken with my phone's crappy camera:

There you have it. Plain and simple. And though it focuses mostly on the Cuddle Collective, my favorite is the tiny red book on the bottom shelf... Oh, and I'm giving away free buttons featuring my kitty mascot Shima-tan (they're in the mesh container behind my business cards). So there's that, too.

Yey, gradumatating. I can't wait. I'm ready for a nice long rest.

MCAD Art Sale (edited)

Art sale was a huge disappointment. Didn't sell a single thing.

Incidentally, I sold a couple prints after the sale.

Senior project preview

Decided to put something up for this. It's far from done, but hopefully I'll get further on it over the summer.

My senior project is entitled Cuddle Collective. It's a collection of six short (8-page) comics involving the above-pictured adorable animals helping a caterpillar to become a butterfly. Upon completion, each comic will be compiled into a handmade book, and accompanied by a plush toy of the corresponding animal.

So far, the first two books are done (Miki the panda and Ashi the bunny), so I still have the other four books to complete. Although I'm probably going to go back and tweak Miki's story, since I don't really like how it turned out...
